  • This video's 4 perpetually pregnant Amazonian warrior women.
Buyers, beware, unless you have the constitutions and the physiques of an Amazonian women, you shouldn't buy this video tape, or venture to do most of the CHALLENGING [...] Yoga practices in the video........more info
  • Very disappointing
I was very disappointed with Rocki's Prenatal Yoga video. Rocki is not charismatic in the least and the program is boring and not challenging. I am in my last trimester and have been doing a great prenatal yoga class at a yoga center once a week and wanted to supplement at home. I picked Rocki's video based on the good reviews it got and sadly found it very lacking. She spends so much time explaining positions that you barely do anything by the time the one hour video is over. Plus she has you doing things like leg lifts which are not even yoga moves. I strongly discourage anyone who is looking for anything remotely challenging from buying this video....more info
  • LOVE this video!!
I've tried multiple prenatal videos including shiva's (hated it) and fitmama (love the salsa part, not the yoga). this is, by far, the best yoga video. she concentrates on breathing and kegels which are KEY in childbirth. she goes at a good pace and explains each pose so that you are doing it correctly. she doesn't talk about trimester modifications b/c you should be able to do all the poses throughout your pregnancy and if you can't, just go as far as you can but they're all safe poses. you should know your body so someone telling me go as far as i can is great advice, as far as i'm concerned. i've practiced yoga for a number of years and i really enjoy this video. ...more info
  • Wow -- changed my mind from one pregnancy to the next
I did the VHS version of this tape with my 1st pregnancy and didn't get into it. Don't know why, just didn't click with me (yes, the production values are simple, clean and basic, the room they work out in is not high glamour or anything, just a working yoga/mat room) -- so I didn't bother doing more than a couple of time. I guess I wanted something more slick and Hollywood and filled with model-like women and tons of advice on how to alter this if, shift this if, etc.

What a difference 19 months make! I am on my 2nd baby and LOVE THIS. Now that I know my pregnant body better, know what is to come, and what my body will really need during labour and with the baby after the birth, I now know that Rocki's is the best routine out there (I wrote a previous review for Shiva Rea's, which is still one of the best, but for me and this pregnancy Rocki is now my guru!)

Rocki is practical and knowlegable with just enough of spirited focus not to turn you off in either direction whether you are spiritual or not. She DOES give instructions for different levels -- just because the models are all in late stage, doesn't mean that women who have smaller belly bumps are ignored.

And there are everyday women going through all the exercises, probably real clients -- not currently pregnant dancers and acrobats who can do whatever is required without modification. Each of Rocki's models are your average pregnant woman, whom you'd see on the street with stretch marks, linea nigra, they have put on those extra pounds.... basically, they are just like me -- and probably just like you.

I think most women will benefit enormously from this routine.

  • Highly recommended!
I did this workout throughout my whole pregnancy and I'm totally convinced that's why I bounced back so quickly. It kept me in shape (well, you know what I mean-everything's relative when you're hugely pregnant)and kept me feeling great while I was pregnant. My husband could tell the days I didn't work out because I didn't have the same energy as when I did yoga.

The sequences are thorough-kind of easy when you're barely pregnant and tough when you're full term. The stretching and breathing alone is worth its weight in gold for me. I love the meditation Rocki does, too. It's nice but not too "new agey" for me.

Best of all for me, I just had my baby 3 weeks ago and went back to doing this tape a few days ago-and felt good. I hope Rocki puts out a postnatal workout-I bet it would be great. I did her Labor Prep tapes and we loved them. They really helped my husband and I work together when I was in labor.

This workout is terrific and I really recommend it. Fit Pregnancy and LA Magazine say it's the best prenatal yoga class, so I'm in good company. I couldn't have gotten through my pregnancy without it. ...more info
  • Great for mind, body and soul
I am not an avid yoga enthusiast and I'm in OK physical shape, so upon learning I was pregnant, I was determined to maintain my good health and enjoy my workouts. Rocki makes the routine safe, effective and challenging for all levels. I can't say enough about yoga during pregnancy! It truly benefits mind, body and soul. Rocki also reminds me that I'm doing yoga for the two us. This tape is informative, easy to follow and fun to do!...more info
  • Best yoga workout I've done!
I love this workout. Rocki seems very knowledgeable and offers a lot of different variations on poses. (I'm not very stretchy and that helps me a bunch, since I can't do all of the poses full out.) I've been doing this for 4 months now, though, and I think I'm stretchier than I was!

The meditation is great and the ujay (sp?) breathing alone makes me feel calm and happy. I love that I get a chance to focus on my new baby-most of the time I'm rushing around buying all the stuff I'm going to need, fixing up the baby's room-all the external stuff.

At first I wasn't sure if this was a tough enough workout, but now that I'm 8 months, let me tell you, it's HARD. A friend who told me about this said she's convinced doing it is why her labor and delivery went fast. I guess I'll find out! I recommend this to everyone!...more info

  • cheesy and too easy
I hadn't tried yoga before I got pregnant so I thought that I'd try a yoga pregnancy video, just to see what it was all about. I was very dissapointed. Most of the video seems to be of Rocki using an overly-soothing voice talking of how to bond with your baby. Too many cheesy phrases of nourishing your baby... During this, the excersised are very easy, I'm in fair condition, and wanted to get a video that would help keep the extra weight gain off (I gained a few too many lbs. during my first pregnancy). I don't think I made it through one session without yawning. I was hoping for some good excersises after looking at so many good reviews. There are some fair leg excercises at the end which is the only part I can stand to play. I'll probably try to sell it on ebay instead. Very dissapointed, I plan to try one more yoga pregnancy dvd, hope it's not so easy and cheesy....more info
  • Very good 3rd trimester workout!
I bought this dvd to use during my 3rd trimester, when the elipse machine and stationary bike at the gym were becoming too difficult for my growing belly.

I have been in beginner yoga for a little over a year, practicing once a week at our local gym. So, I know the basics, but am still a beginner.

I recommend this dvd for someone who has some yoga experience. Rocki does a great job of providing variations on the poses, depending on how strong you feel on a particular day. The kegels in between exercises are also helpful....more info

  • Prenatal Yoga
I purchased this tape along with Shiva Rea's and I tried it only once in my fourth month of pregnancy. I was fit and regularly incorporated yoga into my fitness routine before pregnancy. This tape has, in my opinion, the potential to lead to injury in at least some women. Poses are not fluid, as they are in Rea's program, and many are sustained excessively long. Despite following several of her modifications, I still managed to irritate a number of ligaments while performing her routine. As a result of my experience, I decided not to use the tape again and have relied on the Shiva Rea tape for pre-natal yoga....more info
  • Energizing, not tiring
I feel that the tape does the best job of giving me more energy in my day. The first couple months of my pregnancy I was so tired and found that this routine energized me rather than making me more tired. I've tried all the tapes I feel this one is the best for replenishing my soul. It sounds weird but I feel like I'm actually making connection with my unborn child and that really makes my day and gives me a boost. Thanks Rocki!...more info
  • only for beginners
I have been doing yoga for a few years now, and was looking for something that was a great workout, yet avoided positions that were beginning to feel uncomfortable or unsafe (like the bow pose, deep twists). I'd consider myself an intermediate at yoga, but this was way too easy. It did show some useful modifications to accomidate my growing belly, but that was the limit of its usefulness. The overabundance of leg lifts and kegels also were annoying. I don't need a yoga tape to do those. (they aren't even yoga moves!). But having sampled several pregnancy yoga workouts (this being the worst one), I have come to the conclusion that no one will endorse a vigorous workout for pregnancy. Maybe they're too afraid of liability, I don't know. Just do your regular yoga routine, don't do anything that puts pressure on your belly, and modify everything else however you can to make it more comfortable. (any yoga DVD can help you with this part)...more info
  • My favorite workout!
I really like this DVD. I wasn't sure about doing yoga, since I haven't done it before, but I tried this and I'm glad I did. The instructor, Rocki, seems to really know what she's doing and gives different adjustments depending on how flexible you are and how far along you are. That's really saved me since I'm not very flexible. I like all the different poses and the breathing really helps - it especially helped me in the first trimester when I was nauseous all the time. I'm not sure how I can have more energy after working out, but I do with this DVD. I LOVE the meditation at the end. I think Rocki's great....more info
  • Getting the baby connection
I'm in my third trimester and I feel great! I owe a lot to Rocki and her yoga. I feel really good after a workout and I really feel that I'm connecting with my baby. I like the different shapes and sized women on the DVD-makes me feel better about my ability (and the way I look right now). Best of all, I feel a connection with the new baby that I wouldn't have made time for every day without this workout. I would highly recommend this video....more info
  • Best tape I've found-gives me energy!
I'm 6 months pregnant with my second baby and I'm feeling great! I love this tape because for me, it does just as it says - it relaxes me and I feel like I have more energy when I'm done. I just pop the tape in when my 2 year old is down for a nap and I have time for myself and time to tune in to my new baby inside. I think Rocki the instructor really gets that. I have some other tapes, but this is the best one I've found....more info
  • Tuned in to myself and my baby
I really enjoy this video. I find it to be as challenging and relaxing as you make it. The more I do it, the more I'm able to deepen my stretching and my breathing. The poses are pretty easy to follow and the instructor is very soothing. I am 7 months pregnant and have been doing the video on and off for about 4 months now. There are 5 other pregnant ladies to follow, so you can adjust the poses as necessary to remain comfortable. I like the way I feel when I'm done - I feel tuned in to myself and my baby. This tape works for me!...more info
  • very weak, lacks substance, other videos are better
I don't care for this video at all. Rocki talks too mcuh and she is constantly kegel exercises, which is not much of a workout. Some of the moves are ok, but it's a rather boring routine. Leisa Hart's FITMAMA is so much better and well worth it, this tape of Rocki's is not a tape I recommend....more info
  • disappointing
I don't care for this video. Most of the time is spent either listening to Rocki talk or doing kegel exercises, which I can do in the car. There are a few good poses, but it's not enough. I switched back to the yoga tape I was doing before I got pregnant, and I've found my back and hip pains have gone away....more info
  • great session
I have been doing yoga once a week in a class for almost 2 years and I am now 19 weeks pregnant so I wanted to continue yoga in a safe way. After reading through all the reviews on the various yoga videos and dvds, I decided to try this one since it got rave reviews. I am quite happy with the purchase--Rocki is a great instructor--not too touchy feeling nor too much blabbing. She has a soothing voice and the movements flow (not too much stalling). There are plenty of kegels, so this is a good time to get those in. The workout is sufficient and there are a number of pregnant women to see how you compare. The only thing that I would like better is that it were in a dvd format....more info
  • Best Pregnancy Yoga Tape I've Found
I have five pregnancy yoga tapes, and this is my favorite. It mixes some traditional yoga poses in with some especially designed for pregnancy. It contains kegel exercises, and some pilates-style leg lifts.
The first 1/2 of the tape is floorwork/poses (downward dog, squats, leg lifts), and then it moves on to standing work (tree pose, spinal twists, more squats). The video ends with some stretching and relaxation.
Rocki has a very calming voice, and doesn't talk too much during the workout. Not only will you feel more energized after this video, but you will feel like you got a workout in too. You will get a little cardio benefit from it, as well as stretching and relaxation....more info
