Huiren Group produces Huiren Shenbao, Wuji Baifeng pill and Liuweidihuang pill The sales revenue in 2002 was RMB 1.54 million, 15th in the national medicine industry.
Textile Industry
There are a lot of classifications in Jiangxi's textile industry and the arrangement of the enterprises and industry is quite reasonable too, which is in a middle or higher level of the country. Nanchang, Jiujiang and Fuzhou are the key textile production bases in the province. In 2002, there are 226 enterprises of certain scales in the industry, the gross industrial production value is RMB 6.83 billion, ranking 17 in the country; industrial additional value is RMB 1.6 billion, ranking 18 in the country and the ratio is 4.5% in the province; the export value is RMB 1.07 billion, ranking 18 in the country; the export value of textile garments is USD 400 million, 37.4% of the province and is the No. 1 of the province.
Main products and output: chemical fiber 85,900 tons, yarn 116,000 tons, cloth 204 million meters, print dyed cloth 76 million meters, ramie cloth 21.84 million meters, silk 652 tons, silk products 27.94 million meters, garments 148 million pieces.
Building Material Industry
The main products of building material industry are as follow: cement, glass, fiber glass, construction ceramics, new building material, non-metal mine and products, non-metal material, renovation material and so on. The output value of building material industry achieves 6.25% of the total amount of Jiangxi. There are 199 cement enterprises with the capacity of 23 million tons, 1 float enterprise with the capacity of 5 million boxes. The capacity of high-grade aluminum plastic clad plate is 1.3 million square meters. It is in the middle of China.
The industry system of building material industry is established: cement industry-construction glass industry-construction ceramics industry-fiber glass industry with 23 subsidiary industry and frame of geology exploration, scientific research and design. There are 2 production lines of 4,200 tons new dchamotte cement with dry process (Jiangxi Yadong Cement Ltd. Co.), 3 production lines of 2,000 tons new cement with dry process design by our county (Jiangxi Wannieqing Cenment Ltd. Co.), 2 production lines of float glass with 400 tons (Pingxiang Float Glass Factory) and the production line of 3000 tons construction ceramics (Haofeng Ceramics Group).
Communication
The highway and waterway communications in Jiangxi Province form the communication and transportation net, in which the capital city Nanchang and the municipalities are center hinges; state highway, provincial highway and Gan River water-route are main stems; the wide passages of Shangrao - Nanchang - Pingxiang between east and west and Jiujiang - Nanchang - Ganzhou between south and north are the cross-shaped communication frameworks.
By the end of 2002, there are a total of 60696 kilometers highway lines and the highway density is 36.4 kilometers per hundred square kilometers. In the total highway lines, there are 666 kilometers express highway lines; 314 kilometers class one-highway lines, 6731 kilometers class two highway lines, 5628 kilometers class three highway lines and 22731 kilometers class four highway lines. 12.7% of the highway lines are class two and above, 59.4% of the highway lines are with classes. A highway net has primarily formed with the center of the capital city Nanchang, the frame of national and provincial highways and the link of provincial, municipal, county-level roads.
The Province's main waterborne passage is the water-route between Gan River and Poyang Lake, which is linked with 62 water-route rivers like Fu, Xin, Rao and Xiu etc. There is are total of 5537 kilometers waterway lines, including 156 kilometers class four waterlines, 215 class five kilometers waterway lines, 741 kilometers class six waterlines, 1122 kilometers class seven waterlines and 40% of the total are waterway lines with classes. In the inland waterway, there are 912 berths and ports, including 50 ports with a total annual designed handling capacity of over 10000 tons, 12 ports like Jiujiang, Nanchang, Zhangshu, Ji'an, Ganzhou and Boyang etc. with a total annual designed handling capacity of over a million tons and Jiujiang Port, the top of the six with a total annual designed handling capacity of over 6 million tons. It basically forms a ports group combined with different sizes and channeled with different parts.
Education
There are 37,666 schools of different levels and different varieties, including 1047 schools in non-compulsory education phase with 48 universities and colleges, 16 adult institutions, 76 secondary vocational schools, 119 adult vocational schools, 584 senior high schools and 204 senior secondary vocational schools. Jiangxi has a very big education scale with 9.3546 million students in those schools. There are 4123 graduates, 266,200 students in universities and colleges, 143,100 students in adult institutions, 152,000 students in secondary vocational schools, 15,800 students in adult vocational schools, 609,900 students in senior high schools and 116,900 students in senior secondary vocational schools.
Tourism Industry
Jiangxi province is rich in natural resource and human resource. The mountains are beautiful and lots of the famous gather in Jiangxi province. We have abundant tour resource, so tourism industry has big potential. Jiangxi provincial government forges tourism industry as a key industry in recent years and tourism industry has developed rapidly. The visitors and sales revenue has increased by more than 12%, 18%, higher than GDP growth rate in recent 3 years. There were 240,900 overseas visitors in 2002, increasing by 22.69% comparing with the previous year. There were 32.69 million domestic visitors, increasing by 12.72% comparing with last year. The sales revenue was RMB19.106 billion, increasing by 18.38% comparing with the previous year.
Agriculture Industry
Jiangxi is a agricultural province and the agriculture has a big proportion in province's GNP. In 2002, the additional value from agriculture is RMB 53.6 billion, increasing by 4.4% than last year and it is 21.9% of the province's GDP. Farmer's average income is 2334 Yuan, increasing by 4.4% than last year. The arable land in the province is 2,280 hectare, and water area 1,667 hectares. In 2002, the ripe insemination area is 48.76 million mu, output 15.495 million tons, including 18.932 million mu, 1.893 million mu increased than last year. In growing area of economic crops, except the decreased area of sugarcane and cotton, the crops of fruit trees, vegetable, flowers and Chinese medicine materials all increase a lot. Stockbreeding and fishery have become the supporting industries in Jiangxi's agriculture and the output is 40% of the gross agricultural production value. Production output of meat is 1.968 million tons; output of fishery is 1.382 million tons. Industries of Meaty beef, meaty sheep and goose etc. and special fishery products also develop very quily. In 2002, the export value of fishery products is USD 30.658 million, which is the No. 1 for continuous five yearsin the field of inland provinces in the country.
Automotive & Component
As a key industry in Jiangxi Province, automotive industry has formed scales and solid basis and is holds a very important position of the economy. So far the active employment in this industry is over 60,000 and almost 100 manufacturers working on automotives, civilian modified vehicles, motorcycles and components, among which 4 are automakers, 13 are civilian modified vehicle (including bus) producers, 3 are motorcycle makers. Original value of fixed assets is about Rmb 6 billion in this industry. Production capacity has formed: 250,000 units of automotives, 10,000 units of civilian modified vehicles (including buses) and 750,000 units of motorcycles. Major products are: Jiangling light trucks, Jiangling Transit light bus, Changhe mini bus, Shangrao bus, Anyuan bus and Hongdu motorcycle. They are all in a good position in the segment of China.
Petrochemical Industry
The petrochemical industry is the key industry of Jiangxi province. The sales revenus of the petrochemical industry is RMB 11.595 billion, one tenth of the total amount. There are 8 large-sized enterprises, such as Jiujiang Petrochemical Factory, Changjiu Biochemistry Share Ltd. Co., Jiujiang Chemical Factory, Nanji Chemical Ltd. Co., Daifeng Tyre Ltd.Co. 21 midium-sized enterprises and 200 small-sized enterprises, of which are located in Nanchang, Jiujian, Jingdezheng and Yingtan.
Food industry has a big proportion in Jiangxi's industries. Its production value and tax are in top of industries all the same. In 2002, the gross industrial production value is 12% of the province and the tax is 27% of the province. So food industry is one of the supporting industries in Jiangxi Province. After several years' development, the food processing and making systems adapted to food products resources have generally formed in the province, including common salt, vintage, tobacco, soft drink, organic sugar, milk product, canning, food additive, pastry and instant food etc. Since the "eighth five-year plan", great emphasis have been put on common salt, vintage, drink, milk product and instant food etc. The equipment level, techniques and sanitation conditions have been upgraded. The products' quality, level, scale and the competitiveness have been improved. There also formed a group of key enterprises like Jiangxi Site Alcohol Factory, Linchuan Gong Alcohol Factory, Jiangxi Salt Mine, Nanchang Asian Beer Co., Ltd, Jiangxi Yanjing Beer Co., Ltd, Deyu Group, Gannan Fruit Group, Runtian Group and Jiangxi Wang Apiary Co., Ltd etc. And a lot famous brand food is coming into Jiangxi like Tongyi instant noodle, Wahaha mineral water, Huiyuan fruit drink and Wangwang series. The alcohol and beer industry also rank 14 and 15 in the country.
Porcelain Industry
The porcelain industry is the traditional light industry. There are 180 enterprises, which produce porcelain with 80,000 staff, including 2000 sole trader. The output value in 2002 was RMB15.8 billion, the tax was RMB 22million, and exported volume is USD 19 million. Most of enterprises are located in Jingdezheng city, Gao'an city, Licuan County, Pingxian city. Porcelain is classified to 5 lots in term of function: household porcelain, art porcelain, building porcelain, industry porcelain, and hi-tech porcelain.
The porcelain industry system in Jingdezheng is established: raw material-production-market-research and design-education. Jingdezheng is one of the national porcelain regions.
With respect to the industry structure, porcelain industry comprises art porcelain, building porcelain, industry porcelain on the basis of household porcelain. Electronic porcelain and hi-tech porcelain are devloped too. With respect to the ownership, there are not only the state-owned enterprises which played leading role before, but also non- public enterprises like sole trader, public-private enterprises with assets of more 10 million yuan which is the new point of economic growth. With respect to the product structure, new material, new type, new technology, new looking is developed continuously.
Metallurgical Industry
Metallurgical industry is the key industry in Jiangxi Province. There are 34 stated owned enterprises which smelt and mangle ferrous metal with 6 enterprises processing ferrous metal and 6 enterprises producing fire-proof material. 100,000 people are employed. There are 8 type of products, including construction steel, iron alloy, automobile spring, metal products and so on, with more than 110
catalog and 2100 kinds of specification. The key enterprises are as follow: Xinyu Iron & Steel Ltd. Co., Nanchang Iron & Steel Ltd. Co., Pingxiang Iron & Steel Ltd. Co., Jiangxi Hongdu Iron & Steel Works which are located in Nanchang, Xinyu, Pingxiang. The output in 2002 is as follow: steel 5,480,000 tons, pig iron 4,530,000 tons, finished products of steel 5,320,000 tons, coke 2,230,000 tons, finished products of iron ore 670,000 tons, automobile spring 19,700 tons, steel wire 100,000 tons. The sales revenue is RMB 12.26 billion and the total amount of the profit and the tax is second following tobacco industry in Jiangxi province.
Non-ferrous Metal Industry
The non-ferrous metal industry is the key industry of Jiangxi province. There are 173 enterprises, which focus on non-ferrous metal, such as Jiangxi Cooper Group Company, Jiangxi Rare-earth and Tungsten Group Company.
The capacity of 10 kinds of non-ferrous metal is 277,000 tons, including electrolytic copper: 234,000 tons, electrolytic aluminum: 16,700 tons, copper product: 71,000 tons, tungsten concentrate: 41,500 tons, columbine-tantalite concentrate: 210 tons, rare-earth metal: 3,700 tons. The sales revenue is RMB 11.3 billion.
Electronic Information Industry
The output value of electronic information industry in 2002 was RMB 66.55 billion, an increase of 20.94% comparing with the previous year. The rate of investment type, consume type, electronic element type is 21.06:33.09:45.85. There are 5 catalogs of electronic information products: electronic element, communication equipment, computer, household electronic appliance, and electronic materials. The sales revenue in 2002 was RMB 892 million, an increasing of 102.5% comparing with the previous year.
The main enterprises: Jiangxi Electronic Group Company, which output value is RMB 2.51 billion and main products are as follow: communication receiver, program control switchboard, computer, monitor, electronic element, Jiangxi Liangcuang Photo electricity Share Ltd. Co., which is the first listed company focusing on photo electricity products with the annul output value of RMB 1.518 billion and main products are as follow: LED photo electricity element, photo electricity cable, relay, parts of apparatus and information communication products, among which the capacity of photo electricity element and relay is the first in the national electronic information industry, Jiangxi Qinghua Tellhow Science and Technology Share Ltd. Co. with the output value of RMB 340 million ,which main products are as follow: brainpower electric, mains for defense industry, Nanchang Changda Photo electricity Science and Technology Company, which research on LED phase piracy is on the top of China relying on the centre of luminescence material and parts of apparatus attaching to the ministry of education. The main software enterprises: Tell how information Company with annual sales revenues of RMB 120million, Jingding Software Company with the annual sales revenues of RMB 34 million and exported volume of USD 1.21 million, Pioneer Software Company, which design the software of collecting highway toll fee, Jiangxi Qingzhi Education Software Company, which design the application software of campus management and education, Nanchang Lidefeng Company which design the identifying system of vehicle plate. Jinlu Softwar Park, located in Nanchang Hi-tech Development zone, becomes the habitat of software enterprises.
