Wilmington, CA - Aquajet Corp. announced that it has shipped its first production Jetbikes to customers in the Asia Pacific Rim.
The Jetbike is the world's first motorcycle for the water. It will be featured at a major trade show in Japan in April. Ironically, Japan is known for building most of the world's street and off-road motorcycles, and the Jetbike should prove to be a very popular water-oriented motorcycle brand for this and other island countries in the region.
Aquajet's Jetbike recently won the prestigious "Innovation Award" in the boats category at the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) convention in Orlando, FL.
The Jetbike will revolutionize personal transportation on the water. It can be used for sport, recreation and leisure use, plus a wide range of specialized applications, such as commercial, military, Coast Guard, Navy, Navy Seals and Life Guard Patrol.
Aquajet's founder and CEO, and Jetbike inventor, Gerald A. Wiegert, has a history in watercraft: in the design and development of the original stand-up Jet Ski. You can't walk on water, or drive your car on water, but according to Wiegert you will now be able to motorcycle on the water. The Jetbike is an innovative mechanical device that is profoundly logical and is "extremely fun" to ride. The Jetbike is differentiated from a boat or a conventional personal watercraft by its basic design and concept.
The Jetbike is designed to be a motorcycle for the water, not a boat. The Jetbike is the only water machine in the world to feature patented dual steering in unison from both the front and the rear simultaneously. The Jetbike could be considered the safest machine on the water thanks to its patented off-throttle steering control system, which provides for total dual off-throttle steering control even after a rider lets go of the throttle.
Aquajet's safety-related technology invention can also be applied to jet boats and conventional PWC or personal watercraft. The Jetbike has three-dimensional Superbike-like riding and handling characteristics that are superior to and unequaled by other watercraft. The Jetbike is the easiest watercraft to mount and dismount because it is half submerged at rest.
The Jetbike is designed and engineered to comfortably carry one or two people while providing a very high level of performance and handling. The Jetbike's top speed is 50 to 60 mph.
The Jetbike's high draft design also causes the craft to slow down and stop more rapidly than other watercraft. Aquajet currently holds 25 U.S. government granted patent claims on the Jetbike. The company builds its own three cylinder 150 hp plus engine and jet-pump. Aquajet is currently in the process of developing an international distribution network.
The company nearly sold out its first production run of Jetbikes and is exploring corporate and strategic partners to provide additional capital to expand production capacity beyond earlier projections. According to Wiegert, the Jetbike is to watercraft what snowboarding is to traditional skiing, a new idea or revolution which will change traditional thinking. The Jetbike is built in the U.S.
